Main source(s): Ministry Science and Technology, Excutive Yuan, Taiwan Background Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is traditionally classified as primary or secondary TR. The effects TR on right ventricular (RV) function were not consistent. We hypothesized that a unique group, sophisticated sub-grouping can be useful for studying RV function. Methods 207 consecutive patients identified significant (moderate severe) by echocardiography recruited. Standard measurements heart done according to guideline. Lateral tricuspid annulus systolic tissue velocity (S’) fractional area change (FAC) used these into 6 subgroups new systemic approach. Results Mean age subjects was 71.2 ± 14.7 years, there 84 (40.6%) male. There 29 (14%) Secondary further groups included 18 (8.7%) pacemaker related, 81 (39.1 %) left diseases, (2.9%) congenital 3 (1.4%) myopathy, 27 (13.0%) pulmonary hypertension, 43 (20.8%) idiopathic Among 4 major (congenital disease myopathy in analysis due low numbers) TR, S’ higher FAC related dysfunction defined < 35%. presented mostly hypertension leastly (59.3% vs. 14%, p <0.001). Multivariate using reference controlled maximal velocity, end-diastolic area, atrial severity had risk (OR 4.178, 95% CI 1.490-11.703, = 0.007). Conclusions Effects different among Left highest dysfunction. should regarded single disease.

Asymmetry of right ventricular enlargement in response to tricuspid regurgitation.
BACKGROUND Analysis of right ventricular adaptation to tricuspid regurgitation was studied in 10 heart transplant recipients following inadvertent endomyocardial biopsy disruption of the tricuspid apparatus. METHODS AND RESULTS Echocardiography demonstrated progressive diastolic right ventricular cavity enlargement (19.5+/-5.0 to 30.3+/-5.4 cm(2), P<0.0002), with disproportionate elongation a...
متن کاملDetermination of the Effects of Digoxin on the Right Ventricular Function in Patients Undergoing Pneumonectomy
Introduction: Pneumonectomy is the standard treatment of lung cancer, even though patients should undergo several evaluations before surgery; deterioration of cardiopulmonary function after pulmonary resection is inevitable. We have evaluated the effects of digoxin on the improvement of right ventricular function and prevention of probable complications after lung resection surgery. Materials a...

S econdary to left-sided heart disease or pulmonary hypertension, functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR) without organic valvular disease is the most frequent condition affecting the tricuspid valve in Western countries.1 This condition is common in patients with left-sided myocardial or valvular disease (approximately 50% of patients with mitral regurgitation also have concomitant TR); a sign...
متن کاملTricuspid regurgitation and right ventricular function after mitral valve surgery with or without concomitant tricuspid valve procedure.
OBJECTIVES To study the effect of mitral valve repair with or without concomitant tricuspid valve repair on functional tricuspid regurgitation and right ventricular function. METHODS From 2001 to 2007, 1833 patients with degenerative mitral valve disease, a structurally normal tricuspid valve, and no coronary artery disease underwent mitral valve repair, and 67 underwent concomitant tricuspid...
